Children’s Day is a special day held annually for our EC and Primary students as well as the young at heart in ACS Jakarta!
On 20 September, the entire school was transformed into ‘The Greatest Show on Earth!’ The day began with a devotion to encourage our students to smile through every event in their lives. They were reminded that these events will form valuable learning experiences for each and every one of them.
The moment the lights in the TSK Hall were dimmed, the students ‘suspected’ that they were in for a treat. Out of nowhere,
Mr Melvin appeared on the huge screen with the whole entourage of Head of Departments behind him. As the door of the TSK burst open, all the Primary and EC teachers entered the TSK Hall in their fancy costumes dancing and singing to ‘The Greatest Show’, which is an epic musical film. Deafening screams filled the air!
Before they could contain their excitement, the teachers put on a performance worthy of applause as they defied gravity, performed magic, mimed, sang, acted and danced just for the students.
After snack time, another round of heart-pumping events was all planned out for them. 6’ Minute to Win It’ stations were set-up in the TSK Hall for students to challenge themselves to complete a task by using household items like a bottle, a coin or a clipboard.
The Inter-House Cheer Competition which was held after lunch was a riot! Students were decked out in their spanking new House T-Shirt for the first time and judging from the performance on that day, the students had undone themselves with the cheers and the acrobatic displays!
The icing on the cake was when students were gifted colourful highlighters to commemorate this vibrant event and to epitomise our hope that each child that walks through the gateswith of ACS Jakarta will march on to leave a significant and exemplary imprint in their future.
