The ACS Girls Football team started off the academic year with thoughts filled with doubt and worry. When we realized that lots of our previous senior members no longer joined the team, most of us started becoming anxious for the upcoming JAAC tournament. Every Tuesday and Friday, we would gather for training and, despite our nervousness, every single training was filled with joy and laughter. At times training would seem as though it was way too tiring and unbearable. However, as soon as someone made a joke, or did something silly, our spirits were instantly lifted and football training would become a somewhat relief after a day full of tiresome studying at school.
Our coaches committed to preparing us for the JAAC tournament, where we went against girl football teams from other international schools in Jakarta. We started off the tournament strong, where we were able to consecutively win the first few matches, hence making us more confident with ourselves and it made us more motivated. However, despite our passion and perseverance, we were unable to win against some of the teams and unfortunately, we were unable to get into the quarter-finals. Regardless of our loss, we did not let this become a reason for us to become dispirited and doubt ourselves, and instead we used this loss to become a motivation for us to realize that at the next tournament we must work harder and still keep our heads held high.
We truly believe that we did well as a team this year, and what was most honorable about our team was that we did not rely on a certain person to bring our team into victory, and instead we all
worked equally as hard, and in every match, all of our members would have a chance to play. Throughout this academic year, the ACS Girls Football team truly grew stronger in terms of our skills in football, as well as friendship. This would not have been possible without our coaches who were always committed and helped us to step out of our comfort zone. We would also like to thank our TIC Ms Gargi as well as our previous TIC Ms Siti for always supporting and motivating us to play to the best of our abilities, and we are truly grateful for Mr Nadzi for helping us coordinate trainings and matches. Lastly, we would like to thank God for constantly blessing us throughout our practices and match, and ensuring that none of us got severely injured.
