On September 15, the Junior Varsity Boys’ basketball team participated in the JAAC tournament held at the British School Jakarta. Even though our team members were very busy with schoolwork, we always gave our best during practice sessions to prepare for this tournament

Weeks prior to this event, our days were filled with friendly matches and exhausting training sessions. When the day of the tournament finally came, we were filled with joy and excitement. We had a great start defeating Global Jaya. Then we kept our momentum going by winning our second match against AIS. Our winning streak was broken when we lost the match against Saint Laurensia that needed an extra quarter to decide the battle-royale. Fortunately, we still came out as number 1 in our group and made it to the semi-finals which we had to play against SPH Kemang Village. They have been our rivals for years and we were eager to win since we lost against them during our friendly match. Thankfully, we won with plenty to spare. We were all pumped up and thrilled, as we were only one step away from being champions again having a chance to repeat what we accomplished last year. We knew that the next opponent opposite our group was the overwhelming favorite because of their unblemished standing during the elimination round. Nonetheless, we played with strong school and team spirit against BSJ. We fought them like there was no tomorrow, and in the end we yielded to them because of their superior roster and home-court advantage. We proudly finished 2nd place overall. Most importantly, we gained experience with our very young team.

This tournament has allowed us work and bond together. With all the hard work in practices, we are grateful for what we have achieved. There were flaws, but we overcame them as a team. We gained experience, teamwork and friendship. The team congratulates Ishmael Rasheed from Grade 9T for earning the most valuable player in this tournament. Furthermore, we would like to thank Coach Kevin, Coach Rangga, the PE Department and our TIC Mr Romil for giving us this opportunity and supporting us throughout this process.
